How to calculate your building replacement value:
The amount covered by your Home building insurance should cover the full replacement cost of the building including any fixed additions such as in-ground pool, pergola, deck, etc. It should not include the value of your land. Costs are calculated per square metre.
Firstly, take the outside measurements of your home and multiply them to get the area, for example 12 metres x 14 metres = 168 sq m.
Remember to add upper floors and basements.
(Note: 1 square = 10ft x 10ft. )
To convert squares to m² multiply by 9.3.
The costs are based on †Standard finish (see below) with 2.7 metres (8.9 ft) as the main ceiling height. 
North Queensland rebuilding costs include cyclone specifications.
All costs include an allowance for architect fees and plans, the removal of debris, and the replacement of fences, gates, clothes hoists and driveways.
